Directions
for Completing Weekly Tournament Applications
Where
Do I Get Applications?
- You received four (4)
application forms in your member handbook.
- Please make copies of the
application if you intend to play more than four tournaments.
- If you don’t have access
to a copy machine, you may obtain additional applications from your club rep
or print forms from the WMSGA website at www.wmsga.org.
How
Do I Complete
an Application?
- Fill in your name, home
club, and date of the tournament you’re applying for.
- If desired, reserve a cart.
- If it's not a shotgun
start, note your preference of tee time -- early or late.
You may also request one specific playing partner for tee time
tournaments. As often as possible,
requests will be honored
- Indicate the amount of
money required for the tournament you're applying for and the user fee (unless you’re a member of the host
club).
What
Do I Send with
My Application and When Do
I Send It?
- Send the application along
with a single check made payable to WMSGA
to the administrative assistant at the address on
the application.
Enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard if the administrative assistant
does not have your email address.
- On the memo line of your
check indicate which tournament you are applying for.
- Do not fold, staple, or
paperclip applications and/or checks together.
- The postcard will be
returned to you with your tee time or pairing group (for shotgun start) as
confirmation of your entry. (You may omit the postcard and rely on email
notification if you wish.)
- Your
application must be postmarked within the open and close dates as specified on the
tournament schedule.
How
Many Applications May I Send in One Envelope?
- You may send as many
applications (separated, cut apart) as you wish in the same envelope, as
long as each person completes an application form and all payments are
included. Also
include at least one stamped, self-addressed postcard or an email
address for confirmation.
- All applicants must be a
current -- that means paid -- WMSGA members.
What
Happens If the Tournament Is Oversubscribed?
- When more golfers apply
than the host course allows, applicants will be drawn out randomly.
Exception: Members of the host course cannot be drawn out.
- The administrative
assistant will maintain a roster of those drawn out of tournaments. Once you are drawn out, you will not be drawn out again that
season or for the entire next season. For example, if you were drawn out on
August 8, 2006, you cannot be drawn out again until the first tournament of
2008.
What
about Special Tournaments?
-
You must use the
correct application form for special tournaments found in your state book,
not the weekly application form.
-
Special
tournaments for 2007 include Kick Off, Metropolitan, TriState, Seniors, Best
Ball of 2, NEWGA,
Championship, Annual Meeting, 2 Best Balls of 4, and Scramble.
