Ryder Cup Details

Open/Close Dates: April 20 thru April 24
Format: This is a Ryder Cup format tournament played by 2 person teams. Players will make their own teams. The 1st 6 holes will be scramble, 2nd 6 holes will be alternate shot and the 3rd 6 holes will be best ball.
Handicaps: Half of the total team Handicap Index will determine the team Course Handicap.
Eligibility: Only WMSGA members in good standing.
Entry Fee: $46 per team
Prizes: Vouchers awarded at year end.

Spring Best Ball of 2 Details

Format: This is an 18-hole Best Ball of 2, team competition. Players will make their own 2 woman teams.
Handicaps: Each team member will receive 95% of her current course handicap.
Carts: Mandatory
Eligibility: Only WMSGA members in good standing.
Prizes: Vouchers awarded at year end.

Tri-State Details

This tournament is held annually between Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. This year Vermont is hosting the event.
Open/Close Dates: April 15 thru May 1
Considerations for the team: Best possible team in 1st division. Place in correct division for handicap. Past participation in Tri State, past or present officer, support of WMSGA’s tournaments the previous year and past performance. Team selection is made by the Tri State Chair, President and President Elect.
Format: Day 1 – Modified Chapman (alternate shot)
Day 2 – Individual match play
Eligibility: WMSGA member with handicap index between 0 and 33.9. You must have played in 5 WMSGA tournaments between June 25, 2009 and May 1, 2010. You must be willing to play in inclement weather. Entry fee must be submitted with application (check will be shredded, if not selected). Attendance at the banquet and team meeting is mandatory.
Practice Round: Highly recommended. The round may be played within a week of the event at any time on a weekday, but only after 2pm on the weekend. The fee is $35 plus a cart at $20. Pro shop phone is 888-483-4653. To reserve on line go to www.gmngc.com.
Entry Fee: $120 which includes: banquet, user and cart fee for tournament (not practice round).

Eligibility: Any amateur woman golfer who has a USGA handicap index of 17.4 or below who is an active member of one of the NEWGA member state associations and is a legal resident of one of the 6 New England states. WMSGA may invite non-members who are residents of their state and have a HI that meets entry requirements. A Junior is any girl who is a resident of the respective state and has not reached her 19th birthday by the opening day of the tournament. A Junior of 18 years of age is eligible only if she has not yet begun her first semester of college. A Junior does not have to be a member of a NEWGA member club, but must have a USGA HI of 17.4 or below. Parents/guardians are NOT allowed to caddie for Juniors. Seniors must be 50 years old and Legends must be 65 years old by the opening day of the tournament.
Carts: Are optional at an additional fee of $15 per person.
GPS Devices: Allowed
Refund Policy: No refunds after June 20, 2012.
Divisions: Legend-65 yrs +, Senior-50 yrs +, Junior-under 19.
Practice Round: Can be played after June 18, 2012. Call

Tournament Info: Each state has a quota of 18 players. There will be a cut after the 2nd day to the low 70 players (plus ties).

Prizes: Prizes for this tournament are calculated according to the point system, but for each day individually. Vouchers will be awarded at year end.
Tee Times: Will be assigned. Must be able to play at assigned times, preferences will be honored if possible but cannot be guaranteed. Times will be available via email or on web site.

1st Women's Maine Amateur Details

Open/Close Dates: June 15 thru July 3, 2012
Format: Play will be 54 holes medal play with full handicaps. The field will be a maximum of the 96 players with the lowest handicaps.
Practice Round: Call pro shop for tee times at 623-9624 after pairings are announced. User Fee- $ 40.00 and carts (Optional) are $ 17.00 per person .
Eligibility: Open to any member who has played in 3 WMSGA and/or SMWGA sponsored tournaments between the close dates of the previous year to the close date of the current year. (July 19, 2011 thru July 3, 2012)
Entry Fee: $ 125.00 (Junior $80.00)
Pairings: 1st day-Lower handicaps tee off first;
2nd day-Re-paired by first day’s score with lowest score
teeing of last;
3rd day-Re-paired by 2 days’ total scores with lowest scores
teeing off last.
Carts: Optional (Reserve on application. Half cart or full cart with caddie.)
Banquet: Wednesday following completion of play.
Prizes: Champion and Runner-up will be crowned. Plus 3 flights with 4 low gross prizes in each flight. The Champion and Runner-Up may come from any flight. Credit awarded to be used in the host course’s pro shop.
Junior: Any member who has not reached her 18th birthday and also meets all other criteria is eligible to compete Women's Maine Amateur.

2012 MSGA Mixed Championship Details
September 9, 2012 at Boothbay CC
MSGA responsible for all pairings, scoring, etc.
Teams: 2 person amateur teams consisting of a male and a female with at least one player having a membership card from any of the Maine golf associations and the NEPGA.
Eligibility: Any WMSGA member and a male partner who is or is not an MSGA member.
Format: Scotch Ball Modified Pinehurst. (Both players hit drives from the appropriate tee and then play their partner’s ball for the second shot. One ball is then selected and players alternate hitting until holed out. The process is repeated for each subsequent hole.)
Entry Fee: $50 per person or $100 per team
Carts: Carts are extra and must be reserved, by you,through the golf club.
Prizes: Championship trophies will be awarded for gross winners, with an equal number of gross and net payoffs in MSGA vouchers with the amounts depending on the number of entrants.
Divisions: Separate division for married couples. Teams can win only in couples division or in overall field.
